The library and staff are a significant part of what WGGS has to offer the genealogical and local history community. CCPL provides WGGS with its own area on the second floor of the library. Along with the significant collection of books and manuscripts, there is the microfilm collection, microfilm readers with printing capabilities and an array of computers nearby free for any patron or visitor to use. This would not be possible without our partnership with the Coal City Public Library.
WGGS received Thank You cards from the CCPL Staff and the Board with the wonderful news that the subscriptions for Ancestry Library Edition and Heritage Quest would be paid for another year out of the WGGS donation!
Many libraries subscribe to Heritage Quest, which can be accessed either from computers in the library, or your home with your library card number. If you are not in the CCPL district, check with your local library to see if Heritage Quest access is offered. In addition to the US Census, Heritage Quest is also the provider of PerSi, the Periodical Source Index, which comes from the Allen County Public Library holdings in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Ancestry Library Edition, however, is only accessible inside the library.
